.57" Serrated Triassic Fossil Tooth - Chine Formation, Arizona
This is a .57" long fossil tooth collected from the Late Triassic Chinle Formation in St. Johns, Arizona. Both edges of this gorgeous tooth are serrated, with the distal edge bearing the most prominent serrations. We considered this to be Coelophysis, however the lack of recurved structure and lower serration (denticle) density compared to that of Coelophysis leaves us uncertain about identification, therefore we have left it as unidentified. Unfortunately there isn't much material published on triassic teeth, so identifying a tooth such as this is more guess work than anything.
