6.2" Fossil Running Rhino (Subhyracodon) Left Mandible - Wyoming

This is an exceptional, 6.2" long running rhino (Subhyracodon) jaw (left mandible). It was collected from the White River Formation of Converse County, Wyoming, making this specimen approximately 32 million years old. The lateral side of the jaw has been exposed from the rock in an aesthetic fashion. It is in excellent condition with natural teeth and no gap fill restoration!

Comes with a large acrylic display stand.

During collection the rock broke into several pieces, resulting in some fracturing of the ramus which required crack repair.

Subhyracodon was a genus of hornless running rhinoceroses, roughly the size of modern day cows. They are an extinct line; I'm sure you've noticed there are no rhinos browsing the plains of North America today.
