7.8" Jurassic Coral (Thecosmilia) Colony And Urchin - Germany

This is a spectacular 7.8" tall coral and sea urchin association from the Nattheim Formation in Germany. The coral (Thecosmilia) at the top of the specimen is an extinct genus of stony corals that lived from the Jurassic to the Cretaceous. The urchin (Plegiocidaris) located near the base is an extinct genus of echinoid that lived from the Triassic until the early Cretaceous. In addition to Thecosmilia and Plegiocidaris, there are a number of other organisms in this association; unidentified corals, polychaete worms and sponges. This stunning specimen has a lot to see and will reveal something new every time you look at it.
