.8" Eocene Fossil Grasshopper (Caelifera) - Green River Formation
This is a very nice, .8" long fossil grasshopper (order Orthoptera - suborder Caelifera) that was collected from the Green River Formation of Utah. While this formation is best known for well-preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain a very diverse insect fauna.
