10" Plate with Four Fossil Leaves (Three Species) - Montana

These are four fossil leaves, two of the species Celtis asperum, and one each of Davidia antiqua and Zizyphoides flabellum, collected from the Fort Union Formation near Glendive, Montana. The dark orange/brown preservation contrasts well against the shale, and many of the details in the leaves can be seen in good relief. There may be some touchups to the surface of the leaf where some of it flaked onto the negative during collection.

This specimen includes an acrylic display stand.

Some faint impressions of other leaves can be found on the reverse side of this plate.

From smallest to largest:

#4 - Celtis asperum (1.15" long)
#5 - Davidia antiqua (3.7" long)
#4 - Celtis asperum (2.55" long)
#1 - Zizyphoides flabellum (3.7" long including stem)
