Awesome 2.6 Inch Asaphus Lepidurus

This is a beautiful example of the Russian asaphid trilobite Asaphus lepidurus. It was quarried near the Wolchow River in Russia at the Putilovo quarry. The preparation on this specimen is beyond words with even the most minute surface details preserved. It is laid out very prone, is well inflated and looks like it is ready to crawl off of the rock.

Like basically all Russian trilobites it has some restoration but it is very minor in this specimen, maybe 2-3%. It is to replace some missing shell that runs through the left hand side of the tail. This would have been were the rock was broken during collection. There is also some restoration on the lens area of each eye. Killer trilobite specimen.
