Cretaceous Gastropod And Clam Fossils - Coon Creek Formation

This is a cool association of fossils from the Late Cretaceous, Coon Creek Formation of Tennessee. The large gastropod in the center is Turritella vertebroides and there are several shellfish of the species Paranomia scabra and Cucullaea vulgaris. There is also another gastropod present but I'm not sure of the species. This piece has been nicely prepared to expose the fossils from the surrounding sandstone. The base of the rock is flat, so that it sits up nicely without the need of a display stand.
