Pair Of Large, Orange, Ordovician Brittle Stars (Ophiura) - Morocco

This is a pair of large, bright orange, fossil brittle stars (Ophiura) from the Kataoua Formation of Morocco. It is Ordovician in age, approximately 450 million years old. The orange coloration is natural and due to the oxidization of iron pyrite.

Both specimens are highly detailed with the larger one being 6.5" across. There is a small amount of restoration to the very tip of a few of the arms.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.
