Superb 2.6 Inch Asaphus Lepidurus Trilobite

This is a beautiful example of the Russian asaphid trilobite Asaphus lepidurus. It was quarried near the Wolchow River in Russia at the Putilovo quarry. The preparation on this specimen is beyond words with even the most minute surface details preserved. It is laid out very prone, is well inflated and looks like it is ready to crawl off of the rock.

Like basically all Russian trilobites it has some restoration but it is very minor in this specimen, maybe 3%. The restoration is around a repaired crack running through the pleural tips on the right hand side of the trilobite and at the base of the right eye. This is a much better specimen than most.
