This is two, fossil worms (Paucojaculum), preserved inside an ironstone nodule from the Carbondale Formation near Essex, Illinois. The longest worm is 1.0".

Paucijaculum is an extinct genus of the phyllum Chaetognatha, the Bristle Jaw worms. They planktonic marine predators.
