POLISHED MOOKAITE JASPER

Mookaite is a striking, multicolored jasper prized for its warm reds, yellows, creams, and occasional purples, often arranged in soft, painterly patterns. Geologically, it is a sedimentary rock—often described as chert, chalcedony, opalite, or a blend of all three—formed from the microscopic silica skeletons of ancient radiolarians. This distinctive material occurs as nodules within the Windalia Radiolarite of the Kennedy Ranges near Gascoyne Junction in Western Australia.
