1.3" Kämmererite Crystals on Matrix - Kop Krom Mine, Turkey
This is a dazzling cluster of magenta-colored kämmererite (chromium-bearing clinochlore) crystals on a rock matrix, collected from the Kop Krom Mine in Turkey. The matrix is almost entirely encrusted in a druze of kämmererite and has been mounted to an acrylic display base with mineral tack.

Kämmererite (synonymous with chromium-bearing clinochlore) is a lustrous mineral that is typically rose-red to magenta in color. It's a variety of clinochlore that owes its color to chromium impurities. It was named in 1841 by Nils Gustaf Nordenskiöld in honor of German geologist and pharmacist August Alexander Kämmerer.
