1.9" Thomsonite (Zeolite) on Sparkling Heulandite - Maharashtra, India

This is a 1.9" wide, high quality specimen of the zeolite thomsonite, collected from the Deccan Traps (the world largest basalt flow) in Maharashtra, India. Thomsonite is one of the rarest zeolites found in the volcanic rocks in the area. The fuzzy balls of thomsonite bear a beige-peach coloration and the largest aggregation measures about .9" wide.

Small, gemmy heulandite crystals can be found encrusting the red-brown matrix, surrounding the thomsonite "blobs" that seemingly ooze across the specimen.

It has been mounted to an acrylic display base with mineral tack.
