18" Polished Slab Of Malachite, Chrysocolla & Quartz - Australia

This stunning 18" wide polished slab showcases vibrant green malachite beautifully intergrown with chrysocolla, cuprite, and sparkling druzy quartz. It originates from the renowned DeGrussa Copper-Gold Mine in the Pilbara Block of Western Australia.

The swirling, layered colors create a mesmerizing pattern often compared to an aerial view of a tropical rainforest canopy. Large slabs like this, sourced from the oxidized zone of the orebody, are becoming increasingly rare and are expected to be unobtainable in the near future.

The DeGrussa deposit began forming nearly two billion years ago, when primary copper sulphides developed in volcanic rocks on the ancient seafloor and were later buried beneath sediments. Over vast spans of time, the orebody was exposed at Earth’s surface, where water, oxygen, and carbon dioxide transformed the original sulphides into an extraordinary array of colorful secondary copper minerals.
