This is a 5" long skull carved from white jasper with green dendrites, known as tree agate. The craftsmanship on this piece is excellent, with the zygomatic arch, mandible and nasal cavities fully rendered.

About Tree Agate

Despite the name, tree agate is actually a dendritic jasper, a variety of chalcedony marked by branching manganese and iron oxide inclusions that resemble miniature landscapes. These dark green, mossy “trees” stand out against a milky white background, creating a natural scene unique to each piece.

Most tree agate on the market comes from deposits in western and central India, where silica-rich fluids once permeated cracks in ancient rock and left behind these beautiful dendritic formations.
