Chrome chalcedony is a variety of chalcedony that gains its color from trace amounts of chromium. Depending on where it comes from, it may have different names. Specimens from Australia are called chrome chalcedony, from Zimbabwe its known as "mtorolite" and specimens from Bolivia are often referred to as "chiquitanita". Chrome chalcedony is similar to chrysoprase, however chrysoprase earns its color from trace amounts of nickel, as opposed to chrome chalcedony's chromium.
