This is a fascinating, 7.6" tall, section of Jelly Bean Jasper from mined near Paraburdoo in Western Australia. One side has been cut and polished to a glossy finish.

It is a silicified pelite (mudstone) which occurs in the Jeerinah Formation. It was deposited during the Late Archean or an astounding 2.7 billion years ago! Due to its unique, colorful patterning it is often used jewelry and as a decorative stone.
