9.3" Polished Noreena Jasper Section - Australia

This is a very colorful, 9.3" wide, section of Noreena Jasper from the Hamersley Basin in Australia. It has been polished to a mirror like finish on one side. The edge has been cut flat so that it stands up without the need for a display stand.

Noreena jasper is a type of jasper named after the Noreena Hills in Western Australia where it is found. It is known for its unique, colorful patterns that can include shades of red, orange, yellow, and green.

Noreena jasper is a silicified pelite (mudstone) that occurs in the Jeerinah Formation. It was deposited during the Late Archean, an astounding 2.7 billion years ago! Due to its unique, colorful patterning, it is often used in jewelry and as a decorative stone.
