Bargain, 7.3" Quartz Geode - Morocco

This is a 5.9" wide geode filled with quartz crystals, collected from Morocco. The interior of this geode is encrusted in quartz crystals. Both halves of this geode are included and each is accompanied by an acrylic display stand.

The interior of the geode was packed with sand when collected, resulting in the orange coloration that covers many of the crystals. The geode could be further worked to expose the quartz.

Silicon Dioxide, also known as SiO2 or Quartz, is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth's crust. Quartz crystals generally grow in silica-rich, hot watery solutions called hydrothermal environments, at temperatures between 100°C and 450°C, and usually under very high pressure. Quartz veins are formed when open fissures are filled with hot water during the closing stages of mountains forming, and can be hundreds of millions of years old.
