1.45" Schorl & Muscovite - Erongo Mountains

Here is a beautiful schorl & muscovite from the Erongo Mountains in Namibia. Although it has broken away from the original host rock, the crystal is in overall good shape.

Tourmaline is a crystalline boron silicate mineral compounded with elements such as aluminium, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, or potassium. Schorl, or black tourmaline, is the most common form of tourmaline, and has been used for everything from jewelry to piezoelectric guitar pickups.

Muscovite is a phyllosilicate mineral of aluminium and potassium. It has a highly perfect basal cleavage yielding remarkably thin laminæ which are often highly elastic.
