Interesting 2.9" Fulgurite - "Petrified Lightning"

Fulgurite is formed when lightning strikes sand and foams a silica structure, making each piece unique and one of a kind. This happens when the electricity superheats the sand and rapidly cools, the whole process can take less than a second. This is a fairly large fulgurite specimen at 3.6" in length and over 1-1/4" wide!
