MIOPLOSUS FOSSIL FISH FOR SALE

One of the more uncommon fish coming out of the Green River Formation is the perciform, Mioplosus. This fish could grow to lengths of up to 20 inches, but averaged about 5 to 7 inches. They were believed to be successful predators in the Northern Hemisphere freshwater environments of the Eocene epoch. Large, adult Mioplosus specimens are often pulled from the 18-inch layer of the Green River formation which is characterized by exquisite, highly detailed, brown-black preservation on a light cream limestone background. These specimens make a phenomenal display piece–especially when fossilized with a mid-dinner mouthful.
