1.25" Jurassic Fossil Brachiopod (Burmirhynchia) - France

This a 1.25" wide Bathonian brachiopod of the species, Burmirhynchia decorata. It was collected in Poix Terron, France in the Ardennes region. These brachiopods are characterized by their high-peaked ridges and jagged shell teeth. This specimen is very visually appealing and a cool collector piece.

There is some discrepancy regarding the exact taxonomic location for these brachiopods. Some sources list the genus as Burmirhynchia, where others consider Rhynchonella to be correct. Both are accepted despite this debate.
