2.15" Fossil Oak Leaf (Quercus) - Insect Predation!

This is an Eocene aged fossil leaf of Quercus petros, a species of oak. The leaf is 2.15" long and on a piece of shale. It is nicely preserved with crisp edges and a dark brown color that contrasts nicely against the rock. Fine details are faint, but can be seen and there are signs of insect predation.

It comes from the Green River Formation in Uintah County, Utah. While this formation is best known for well-preserved fossil fish found in Wyoming, other sections of the formation contain very diverse flora and insect fauna.

Comes with an acrylic display stand.
