2.65" Ordovician Cephalopod (Gonioceras) Fossil - Wisconsin
This is a 2.65" long example of Gonioceras sp. This fossil is part of an old collection from the Grand Detour Formation in Rock County, Wisconsin. It has been partially exposed from the rock it was found in. Gonioceras was one of very few flat cephalopods. This specimen exhibits crack repair from the extraction process. The fossil itself is quite impressive and an excellent example of the large size these Cephalopods attained.
