2.7" Fossil Insect (Crane Fly and Beetle) Plate - Utah

This is a 2.7" wide piece of shale featuring a nicely detailed crane fly (order Diptera - family Tipulidae) fossil and a beetle (order Coleoptera) fossil. The crane fly measures .25" long. The specimen was collected from the Green River Formation of Utah. While the Green River Formation is best know for its fish fossils, other areas produce incredible fossil plant and insect fauna.
