2.8" Pleistocene Fossil Tortoise (Gopherus) Nuchal Scute - Florida

This is a 2.8" wide nuchal scute from a fossil gopher tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus) shell, collected from a Pleistocene-aged deposit in Marion County, Florida. The nuchal scute is the anterior-most scute at the center of the tortoise shell.
