3.28" Serrated, Yellow Megalodon Tooth - Bone Valley, Florida
The Bone Valley Region of Central Florida is world renown for their beautifully colored Megalodon teeth. These highly collectable teeth are getting hard to come by as access to nearly all the mines and phosphate pits where they are found has been shut off. The teeth from this region are almost exclusively small teeth from juvenile sharks, leading to the hypothesis that it this region represented a nursery area for the Megalodon.
This uniquely colored tooth is 3.28" long which is quite large for Bone Valley teeth. The coloration is much more rarely seen than the typical grey teeth. Nice glossy enamel and razor sharp serrations on this beauty.

No one knows for sure why the megalodon went extinct 2.6 million years ago, but the cooling of the climate and gradual disappearance of many of the large whales it relied on for food are suspects.
