3.6" Soft-Bodied Fossil Aglaspid (Tremaglaspis) - Fezouata Formation

This is a beautifully preserved, 3.6" long Aglaspid (Tremaglaspis sp.) from the Upper Fezouata Formation of Morocco. This aglaspid has frequently been identified as Leptaglaspis schmidti in the past, but Tremaglaspis appears to be more accurate.

Beautiful coloration on this specimen. It has been prepared to bring it out in high relief against the surrounding shale, really adding the aesthetic of the piece.

Aglaspids are a rare type of arthropod which was probably related to trilobites. For a while they were regarded as the ancestors to horseshoe crabs, though this theory has fallen out of favor.
