This is a fossil fern (Neuropteris cordata) plate from the Late Carboniferous-aged Montceau-les-Mines Lagerstatte of France. This formation is Stephanian Stage in age, or approximately 300 million years old. The longest fern leaf measures 3.5" long and they are nicely spread out across a 4.85 x 2.7" slab of rock.
