3.5" Alien-Looking Quadrops Trilobite - Fantastic Preparation
This is a spectacular example of the rare and highly sought-after trilobite, Quadrops flexuosa, one of the most bizarre and alien-looking trilobites ever discovered. Its extraordinary appearance is highlighted by a distinctive four-pronged projection extending from the front of its head, a feature that gives the genus its name. Beyond its rarity, Quadrops is notoriously difficult and time-consuming to prepare due to the exceptionally hard surrounding rock and its intricate array of delicate, free-standing spines.
This specimen displays a strongly arched posture, with outstanding preparation and absolutely no restoration. A remarkable example of one of the most unusual and desirable Devonian trilobites.

Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). Due in large part to their hard exoskeletons (shells), they left an excellent fossil record.
