4" Fossil Leaf (Cedrelospermum & Limnobiophyllum) Plate - Utah
This is a 4" wide slab of shale containing two fossil leaves. The longest (.8" long) is a leaf of the species Cedrelospermum nervosum; a species of plant classified within the Ulmaceae family, which includes modern trees like elm and hackberry. The smaller, round-shaped leaf is of the species Limnobiophyllum scutatum, a type of plant commonly referred to as duckweed. This specimen was collected from the Green River Formation in Utah.

While the Green River Formation is best known for its fish fossils from Wyoming, other areas produce incredible plant fossils.
