6.7" Polished Cambrian Sponge (Archaeocyatha) Fossil - Russia

This is a polished slab of Cambrian-aged Archaeocyatha (family Ajacicyathidae (Bedford & Bedford, 1939)) fossils from Eastern Siberia, Russia. Archaeocyatha is believed to have originated in what is now East Siberia near the beginning of the Cambrian Period (Upper Terreneuvian Epoch), or around 525 million years ago. The specimen has been cut into a slab and polished to a glossy finish on one side to expose the cross sections of these reef building marine sponges in great detail.

Comes with an acrylic display stand.
