8.65" Eocene Fossil Sea Snail (Campanile) Shell - France

This is an incredible, 8.65" long fossil sea snail (Campanile giganteum) shell, collected from an Eocene-aged deposit in Champagne, France. It has beautifully exposed and is centered on a large, thick slab of the rock it was found in. This species of marine gastropod mollusk was exceptionally large and is still considered to be one of the largest species of shelled gastropods that ever inhabited the ocean.

Comes with a display stand.

There is some restoration towards the point of this shell.
