Bargain Desmoceras Ammonite - 2.5 inches

This is a polished ammonite of the genus Desmoceras. It is much thicker (1 1/4 inches) than the more common Cleoniceras ammonites. Part of it is polished to reveal the suture pattern while part retains the iridescent "mother of pearl" colored shell.

This ammonite is being offered at a bargain price because it was broken during shipment. There is a section missing from the top of it, but in a way it's a cool feature because it reveals the hollow inner chambers lined with crystals.
