Fossil Gall Midge, Fly and a Mite in Baltic Amber
This is an amazingly detailed, 44 million year old fossil gall midge (order Diptera, family Cecidomyiidae), a fly (order Diptera) and a mite (subclass Acari) preserved in Baltic amber. The length of the gall midge is about 2.5mm.
As a reminder, most inclusions in Baltic amber are extremely small so magnification will be needed to make out much detail. Included with your order is a physical photo of the specimen, and we will also email you a high resolution digital copy.
