Drotops Trilobite Fossil - Nice Eye Preservation #25831

This is a large, gorgeously preserved, 5" long specimen of the trilobite Drotops megalomanicus. The quality of preservation and preparation on this specimen is quite nice. I really like the multi-toned shell coloration of the Drotops trilobites from this location, and find in more aesthetically appealing than the ones with a solid black shell.

All of the tubercles, bumps and eye facets can easily be seen. There is some minor shell restoration to the right side of the tail which is curled under.

How a Drotops might be found in the field, with part of the tail exposed in the broken rock. It would then be prepared using airscribes and air abrasives a process that would likely take 20+ hours for a good specimen..
