Large 2.90" Daspletosaurus (Tyrannosaur) Tooth - Montana

This is a large, robust, 2.90" Tyrannosaur tooth from the Judith River Formation of Montana. This formation is approximately 70 million years old, or about 5 million years old than the Hell Creek Formation which produces T-Rex.

This large tooth Tyrannosaur tooth with very nice enamel preservation. There is an interesting wear facet near the tip where it was rubbing against another tooth in the mouth. One repaired crack with some very minor gap fill restoration near the tip.

Comes with a floating frame display case.

There are three described Tyrannosaurs from the Two Medicine Formation (Judith River Group), Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus and Daspletosaurus. Research done on teeth from these three Tyrannosaurs has concluded that isolated teeth are statistically impossible to assign to a specific genre because they are so similar. But, due to the size of this tooth it makes Daspletosaurus the most likely candidate as it's the largest of the three Tyrannosaurs and this is quite a large tooth.
