Stalk-Eyed Asaphus Kowalewskii Trilobite - 2.9"

This is a large, prone specimen of the long, stalk-eyed trilobite Asaphus kowalewskii. It is Middle Ordovician in age and was collected at the Vilpovitsy quarry in the St. Petersburg region of Russia. The stalk eyes likely allowed to survey it's surroundings while remaining buried in the mud.

Like basically all of these Russian Asaphid trilobites it's coated in a resin to seal the shell which is typically fractured. There appears to be very little actual shell restoration though, two small slivers on the left side, maybe 1-2% in total.
