Sweet 1.81" Tyrannosaur Tooth - Montana

This is awell preserved Tyrannosaurid tooth from the Two Medicine Formation (Judith River Group) of Montana. This formation is approximately 70 million years old, or about 5 million years old than the Hell Creek Formation which produces T-Rex.

There are three described Tyrannosaurs from the Two Medicine Formation (Judith River Group), Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus and Daspletosaurus. Research done on teeth from these three Tyrannosaurs has concluded that isolated teeth are statistically impossible to assign to a specific genre because they are so similar. I've linked to the research paper below.

Morphometry of the teeth of western North American tyrannosaurids and its applicability to quantitative classification

This tooth is 1.81" long and has great enamel. Most of the serrations are pretty worn, but are still visible and there is very light feeding wear to the tip. There are a couple of crack repairs near the base of the tooth, and some restoration on the outer edge of the teeth near the base to fill in a small gap.
