Two Fossil Leaves (Salix And Lygodium) - Green River Formation, Utah
This is two fossil leaves from the Green River Formation, Utah. The largest is a 3.4" willow (Salix) leaf and the smaller is a 1.7" section of climbing fern (Lygodium) leaf. Lygodium is a genus of climbing fern, unique in that each frond forms a long vine.
While the Green River Formation is best know for its fish fossils, other areas produce incredible plant fossils.

A note on Green River leaf identifications. There are over 60 described leaf bearing plants from this formation, many of which have very similar leaves.
