1.35" Black-Green Magnesio-Hastingsite Crystal - Norway

This is a lustrous, 1.35" long magnesio-hastingsite crystal, collected from Studsdalen in Telemark, Norway. It is beautifully formed with striations running along its length and dark, black-green coloration, with the green color being especially notable when viewing each end.

The crystal is accompanied by an acrylic display case and mineral tack.

About Magnesio-Hastingsite

Magnesio-hastingsite (or magnesiohastingsite) is a magnesium-rich calcium amphibole, a type of silicate mineral in the hornblende group. Often it appears green, brownish-green, or black and is named for its magnesium content and relation to hastingsite. Typically it's found in alkaline igneous rocks, often associated with minerals like quartz, orthoclase, plagioclase, biotite, magnetite, and apatite. The type locality is in the Canadian National Railway tunnel of Montreal in Quebec, Canada.
