1.6" Red-Orange Descloizite Crystals on Matrix - Apex Mine, Mexico
This is a gorgeous formation of descloizite crystals on matrix that was collected from the Apex mine in Chihuahua, Mexico. Descloizite has the chemical formula PbZn(VO4)(OH) and is often found as a secondary mineral in the oxidation zone of multi-metallic complex ore deposits.
The lead in the descloizite can be harmful if absorbed into the blood stream by inhalation or ingestion. The crystals won't pose a health hazard just sitting on a shelf but it would be recommended to wash your hands after handling.
