Here is a beautiful cluster of muscovite crystals on quartz, collected from Adams farm in Alexander County, North Carolina. The specimen measures 2.2" wide and the muscovite crystals exhibit an eye catching luster. A small amount of red rutile can be found on this specimen.

Muscovite is a phyllosilicate mineral of aluminium and potassium. It has a highly perfect basal cleavage, yielding remarkably thin laminæ that are often highly elastic.
