Shattuckite with Chrysocolla — Milpillas, Mexico
This vibrant collector specimen comes from the Milpillas Mine in Sonora, Mexico, a world-class locality famous for producing exceptional blue and green copper minerals. Rich cobalt-blue shattuckite forms rounded, botryoidal crusts and delicate micro-druzy sparkles across a host rock infused with smooth, turquoise to teal chrysocolla. The pairing creates a stunning contrast of color and texture, showcasing natural shades reminiscent of tropical seawater and deep blue skies.
Both minerals formed over time in copper-rich oxidized zones, where mineral-bearing fluids deposited copper silicates within fractures and cavities of the surrounding rock. The result is a bold, eye-catching piece prized by mineral collectors for its intense color, layered texture, and classic Mexican copper mineral pedigree.
