3.8" Amethyst Pseudomorph After Barite - Turkey

This is a beautiful purple cluster of amethyst crystals that have been collected from Turkey. The amethyst has formed as a pseudomorph after barite, which gives the specimen its bumpy appearance. It contains many grape juice colored crystals with remarkable luster.

Turkish amethyst mines produce some of the world's most spectacular deep purple amethysts. The amethyst from these localities typically forms as a pseudomorph after barite, usually leaving some specimens with a wave-like or hill-and-valley appearance.
