3.85" Polished Lemon Chrysoprase Sphere - Western Australia
This is a section of nickeloan magnesite (lemon chrysoprase) that has been shaped and polished into a perfect sphere. It was collected from the Eastern Goldfields in Western Australia. Nickeloan magnesite is a nickel-rich variety of magnesite which has an unusual yellow-green color and in this instance, dendritic formation throughout. It measures 3.85" wide and comes with an acrylic ring display stand.
Magnesite is a magnesium carbonate mineral and a primary source of magnesium. It's a member of the calcite group of carbonate minerals, typically displaying a chalky white color, however it can also be gray, brown, yellow, orange, pale pink, or colorless. Magnesite is used in many ways, including use as a refractory material, as a catalyst, a filler in the production of synthetic rubber, and in the preparation of magnesium chemicals and fertilizers.
