5.8" Polished, Banded Aragonite Egg (Cut Base) - Morocco
This is a beautiful polished egg that was formed from a chunk of banded aragonite, collected and polished in Morocco. This egg displays brown, tan, white and translucent bands of aragonite and likely calcite. The base of it has been cut flat, allowing for vertical presentation without the need for a display stand.
Note: Because these eggs are hand polished, most will not be perfectly symmetrical.

Aragonite is a carbonate mineral, one of the two commonly occurring crystal forms of calcium carbonate, the other form being calcite. It is formed by biological and physical processes, including precipitation from marine and freshwater environments. It's crystal lattice differs from calcite, resulting in a different crystal shape. Aragonite forms naturally in most mollusk shells, and as the calcareous endoskeleton most corals.
