6.1" Polished "Tilt Egg" Slab - Wiley's Well, California
This is a gorgeous polished agate nodule (thunderegg) collected from a fairly famous geode and agate site known as "Wiley's Well" in Riverside County, California. Beautiful waterline agate can be seen across the majority of the specimen, with an amethyst crystal encrusted cavity along one edge.
This specimen even has what is referred to as "tilt egg", where there are separate waterline band angles, showing the slowly changing ground level as the void was being filled over time. It has been cut flat on both sides, polished to a glossy finish, and measures 6.1" wide.
Only the pictured half is included, along with an acrylic display stand.

About Wiley's Well
Wiley’s Well is a renowned agate-collecting area in the Colorado Desert of southeastern California, near the community of Blythe. The surrounding desert is famous among rockhounds for producing colorful nodules and geodes, particularly from collecting areas such as the Hauser Geode Beds and nearby washes. Wiley’s Well agates can display attractive fortification and concentric banding in shades of white, gray, red, orange, brown, and occasionally more vivid colors, with some nodules containing quartz-lined cavities or crystalline centers. The material formed through silica-rich fluids circulating within cavities and fractures in ancient volcanic rocks, gradually depositing successive layers of chalcedony and quartz. Decades of collecting and the wide variety of agate, jasper, and geode material found throughout the region have made Wiley’s Well one of Southern California’s classic rockhounding destinations.
