8.4" Amethyst "Jewelry Box" Geode With Calcite On Metal Stand

Words can barely describe how beautiful this specimen is in person. It is a dark purple amethyst geode from Artigas, Uruguay which has been cut open, polished, and mounted on a stand allowing both halves to be displayed. The amethyst crystals are about as nice as they come, undamaged with a gorgeous purple coloration. The amethyst is peppered with small calcite crystals, with four larger, well formed calcite crystals scattered throughout the "bottom" geode half.

The geode half (base) dimensions are 8.4 x 7.5 x 3.5". The dimensions of the lid half of this geode are 6.9 x 5.6 x 3.2". On the stand, the entire specimen is 12" tall. There are two repaired cracks through the lid portion of this geode.

We import our material directly from the mines in Artigas, Uruguay and it is much darker, higher quality material than you normally see for sale.

About Uruguay Amethyst

Though Brazil produces a greater volume of amethyst, the material from the Artigas region of Uruguay is renowned for its exceptional depth of color and superb crystal quality. Uruguayan amethyst typically forms in dense basalt flows and develops into richly saturated, grape-purple crystals that are considered some of the finest in the world. Because we import our specimens directly from the mines, we’re able to offer outstanding prices on everything from dramatic geodes to premium clusters and collector-grade crystal formations.
